What is involved in a Chiropractic treatment?

Adjusting

We weren’t made to stay in one position too long. If you’re not able to get up and move every 30 minutes or so, invest in a stand so you can switch up positions and stand while you work for a while.

*Top tip: computer stands don’t have to be expensive, here is the basic one Emily uses!

Massage

Along with adjusting, massage is one of the main forms of the treatment at Gillingham Chiropractic. It’s great at relieving pain and improving mobility. A variety of massage techniques are used (both hands on and using specialised equipment!), and we always work within your tolerance so don’t be worried about pain!

Stretching & Exercise

Often, Emily will incorporate some stretches during the treatment, and she will give you some exercises that you can do at home to both help yourself get better quicker, and to keep yourself feeling good!

In some cases we use dry needling. This can be thought of as the West’s version of acupuncture. Similar to massage, it’s great at relieving pain and loosening tight muscles. Small, sterile needles are inserted into the muscle, sometimes the needles are left to do their work, sometimes they are gently manipulated. It is not a painful treatment, in fact, most people don’t feel the needles!

Taping

You may have seen kinesio tape on some of your favourite athletes. It is thought to help blood flow and lymphatic drainage, as well as to provide support and comes in a wide range of colours and patterns!
